Spinal and Extremity Manipulation

Manipulation, also known as adjustments or alignment, is a technique performed by trained chiropractors. The technique is performed by hand to apply controlled and quick force to spinal and other joints in the body. Your chiropractor will position you in specific positions to achieve this. You may hear popping or cracking sounds as your chiropractor moves your joints during the treatment session.

The sound is merely gas moving within the joint. It’s an indication that normal range of motion has been restored to a joint that was restricted.

The aim of the manipulation is to restore normal range of motion, and thereby relieve pressure on joints, reduce inflammation, and improve nerve function.

Chiropractic manipulation can help with:

  • Reducing neck and back pain
  • Improving posture
  • Reducing headaches & migraines
  • Improve athletic performance
  • Improve general well-being and health
  • Reducing the reliance on pain killers and anti-inflammatories for musculoskeletal pain
  • Reducing the risk of invasive procedures such as surgery

Chiropractic manipulation is safe and highly effective; however in certain instances your chiropractor may choose not to do manipulation due to conditions such as severe osteoporosis, risk of stroke and cancer.
